Best of SNL: 2/11 (Zooey Deschanel)
On Zooey Deschanel’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live, she poked fun at her own brand of quirkiness – dubbed “adorkable” by her many, many endorsers. Zooey is actually played by Abby Elliott in this first sketch, while the host delivered an accurate Mary-Kate Olsen. Also, we got a precious Bjork, and awkward Michael Cera. On Weekend Update, Andy Samberg’s Nicolas Cage (“I’m going to steal the Declaration of Independence”) met actual Nicolas Cage, in which actual Nicolas Cage never broke “character” or even a smile. In addition, SNL caught up on Super Bowl-related sketches, with Piers Morgan interviewing M.I.A. and Madonna over their halftime controversy, as well as three parodies of the Clint Eastwood Chrysler Ad. Grade A episode.
