Jonathan Ames Gives Better Speeches Drunk
This video plays like a commercial for Prosecco: give enough of it to a famous novelist slash TV creator, and they’ll turn what should be a generic award presentation speech into a sloppily fun stand-up set. Jonathan Ames tells us that it took him several drinks to get up there for his speech, and it’s obvious nobody does that much crowd work, that many digressions, and so much self-deprecating humor without some kind of chemical help. Check the whole speech out and you’ll feel like you’ve seen an episode of “Bored To Death”, from an alternate universe where it was a hit reality show following Ames around New York.
